Working across marine research, software, coordination, and long-term ecological questions.

My work sits between marine science, software development, research coordination, and data-intensive methods.

I originally come from a physics background, which strongly shaped how I approach complex systems and problem-solving. Over time, this evolved into a broader interest in computational and data-driven approaches within marine and ecological research contexts.

Today, much of my work focuses on building structures that help long-term research become practically manageable: coordinating collaborations, developing technical infrastructure, improving data quality workflows, and connecting people across disciplinary boundaries.

A central motivation behind this work is the question of how scientific and technical systems can contribute meaningfully to the understanding and protection of ecosystems and biodiversity - especially in marine environments.

I’m currently working in marine data science and research coordination at the University of Rostock, while also developing independent projects at the intersection of ecology, participation, and technology.

Among them are PelAtlas, a platform for dolphin photo-identification and long-term marine mammal research, which I co-founded together with Oihana Olhasque, and Offener Kreis, a reflective toolset exploring participation, collaboration, and decision-making in research and civic contexts.

I’m particularly interested in approaches that combine scientific rigor with transparency, practical usefulness, and long-term thinking - while remaining aware of the ecological and societal implications of the technologies we build and use.
